A charming town in the north-east of Majorca, Alcudia lies between the Bay of Pollença and the Bay of Alcudia, and is surrounded by the remains of its 14th century fortified walls.
Originally a Phoenician settlement, it became Pollentia under the Romans, Al-Kudia under the Moors, and finally Alcudia after the Christian reconquest.
It is now a popular tourist destination, with the nearby Puerto de Alcudia, one of the biggest resorts on the island.
